Promising three-year-old Tavidream might be in line for an overseas trip later this year.

The son of Tavistock has made an encouraging start to his career and he followed up a debut second at Te Rapa with an impressive home track success at Ruakaka earlier this month.

"Opie (Bosson) got off him and he said he didn't think he would be a New Zealand Derby horse, he's too immature and dumb, but he wouldn't rule him out for a race like the Queensland Derby," said Donna Logan, who trains in partnership with Chris Gibbs.

Tavidream will gain further experience when he steps out in a competitive special conditions event, the Hallmark Stud 1400, at Ellerslie on Sunday.

"We're really pleased with him and at this stage the 1400 metres will suit him," Logan said.

The stable's Ellerslie representatives will also include Tavidream's fellow three-year-old Romancer (NZB Insurance Karaka Mile), Adis (Henley Park 1400) and Candle In The Wind (Karaka Stayers' Cup).

"Romancer is up against a hot field so it will be a really good test for him," Logan said. "He'll run in the Avondale Guineas next on the way to the Derby.

The filly Adis is still a maiden, but she showed her quality last time out in the Gr.2 Royal Stakes when the daughter of Mastercraftsman beat all but She Brings Joy.

"She's freshened nicely so the mile will suit her down to the ground," Logan said. "We rate her a fair bit so hopefully she can go one better this time."

Candle In The Wind is also poised to give another good account of herself following her strong last-start showing for second in the Gr.3 City of Auckland Cup on New Year's Day. – NZ Racing Desk.
