Dashing Taranaki jumper Rangatira has been retired.
The winner of the Great Northern Steeplechase and the Wellington Steeplechase, he returned from a tendon injury last winter to place in one of his three starts over the big fences.
"There was something wrong with one of his feet," trainer Steve Gulliver said. "There was a crack that kept opening up and he ran third at his last start, but he jumped terribly and he was in pain on landing so that was it."
