Andrew Carston will have a dual-pronged attack on Saturday's Listed Liquorland Gore Guineas (1335m) when he saddles last-start winners What Choux Want and Strowan.
"It was definitely a step back in class for What Choux Want at Waikouaiti and I would have been disappointed had she not run well," Carston said.
"I felt she just didn't quite measure up to the good fillies in the spring, so I decided to give her a breather with this race in mind."
Zacinto colt Strowan broke his maiden at Kurow in late December at his ninth raceday start.
"He's drawn a gate and he's come good at the right time," Carston said. "Before he won last start he'd placed behind some pretty smart horses."
Carston rates both runners good each-way chances.
"The Heavy10 track will be a concern for most of the horses including my two, but the fact What Choux Want has drawn wide [barrier 10] might be an advantage in the conditions," he said.
