A shot at a Group One Trentham double has been all but ruled out for Start Wondering.
The Wanganui galloper will attempt to add the Gr.1 J. R. & N. Berkett Telegraph to his Gr.1 Railway Stakes title, but a start in the Gr.1 Thorndon Mile is highly unlikely.
"I don't think he will be running in both," said J. J. Rayner, who prepares the six-year-old at Wanganui with her father Evan.
Start Wondering is more likely to be aimed toward the Gr.1 Haunui Farm WFA Classic at Otaki following his Trentham outing.
Rayner said the gelding had picked up well since his defeat of Perfect Fit at Ellerslie on New Year's Day.
"He was really tired when he got home, but we all were, and he has recovered well. He's doing fine."
