Less than an hour after Steve Smith's Australian cricket team completed a 3-0 Test series whitewash of Pakistan, the national skipper scored a victory at Warwick Farm with a horse he part-owns Cauthen's Power in the Tab.com.au Mile.
Trained by Chris Waller, Cauthen's Power ($5) turned the tables on a lacklustre campaign to overcome Olympic Academy ($16) by 1-1/4 lengths with the $2.50 favourite Kingsguard filling the minor placing.
"He's been a difficult horse to get race-fit and ready to win," Waller said.
Waller sent Cauthen's Power back to the trials on December 30 when he was ridden by Blake Shinn who told the trainer he was travelling well. -AAP
