Capable filly Dontpokethetiger will return to stakes company when she makes her next appearance.

"She'll run in the Gore Guineas and hopefully the next two in the series after that," trainer Peter Rudkin said.

Her first mission is on January 21 followed by the Listed Dunedin Guineas on February 4 and the Listed Southland Guineas a fortnight later.

Dontpokethetiger showed she was up to black type company last season with placings in the Gr.2 Wakefield Challenge Stakes, the Listed Wellesley Stakes and the Listed Welcome Stakes.

She made a successful three-year-old debut at Motukarara in October and two unplaced runs followed before she finished an improved third at Timaru.

"She got into a habit of missing the kick and getting into trouble," Rudkin said. "We put her in the gates last at her last start and we got her out and on the pace and she went a very good race."

He is also looking forward to the return of Dontpokethetiger's stablemate Honor That, who won the Listed NZB Airfreight Stakes in the autumn.

"She's had a chip taken off her knee and she's in pre-training with Danny Frye," Rudkin said. "He's had her about six weeks and she'll be back in the stable soon."

Meanwhile, his immediate focus will be on Saturday's Greymouth meeting where his runners include Crackling Rosie in the Recreation Hotel-sponsored Cup.

"She's been a wee bit frustrating and she hasn't finished further back than sixth for me," Rudkin said. "It was a nice run the other day though and she had a good blow after." – NZ Racing Desk.
