Jason Waddell put a lengthy ban behind him when he tasted success on his first day back riding at Tauranga.
The 30-year-old was successful aboard the promising Freddy Mac for Emma-Lee and David Browne, who prepare the Pins three-year-old for Windsor Park Stud.
"He was perfectly rated and in the right spot behind the pace," David Browne said. "We were pretty confident, but you always need a good ride."
Windsor Park will offer a half-brother (Lot 156) by Savabeel to Freddy Mac at Karaka on January 30.
Waddell was given a 12-month suspension in December, 2015, after he was found guilty of acting detrimentally to the interests of racing and of improper riding.
The charges arose from an incident at an Avondale trial meeting in September, 2015 after his mount severely interfered with a horse ridden by Samantha Collett.
