Persistent knee problems have forced the retirement of the Group One winner Ryan Mark.
The 2016 Railway Stakes winner's defence of his title on New Year's Day was over before it began with the son of Thorn Park scratched on veterinary advice behind the barrier.
"He's been a wonderful horse to us and I'm happy as a sand boy that it's now all over," co-breeder, part-owner and trainer John Morell told The Informant.
"It's actually a relief, we've done everything possible to keep him going but it had to end somewhere and I'm pleased that he's home now."
Ryan Mark won eight of his 21 starts and more than $350,000.
