Monrecour began her career in perfect style at Tauranga on Monday for trainer Roger James.
The daughter of Zacinto made a winning debut over 1300 metres off the back of a trial win at Te Aroha.
"She surprised me a bit that day, she was only there for an educational look around," James said.
"We'll just take it a race at a time with her, but it's nice to see that raw ability."
