Talented Canterbury filly Starvoia will have three upcoming opportunities to add further black type to her burgeoning record.

The three-year-old has won three of her five appearances, including a last-start defeat of the North Islander Midnight Gossip at Wingatui on Boxing Day.

Starvoia also finished runner-up to the subsequent Gr.1 New Zealand 1000 Guineas winner La Diosa in the Listed Canterbury Belle Stakes.

"You'd have no idea of the blood, sweat and tears that went on before that last win," said Karen Parsons, who trains the daughter of Starcraft with her husband John.

"We've had issues with her feet and the owners watched her work one morning and her feet were good and then that night she had one foot in the air. She'd screwed a plate and ran it into her foot.

"We got her to the races in the end and it was a big relief. She'll be going for the Triple Crown series now."

Parsons was referring to the Gore Guineas on January 21, the Dunedin Guineas on February 4 and the Southland Guineas a fortnight later. They are all Listed events.

Meanwhile, the stable will have a number of runners at Omakau on Tuesday with recent Waikouaiti runner-up Rosheen (Kaimai Grasslands Handicap) tipped as one of their best chances.

"She was pretty good the other day and, if he gets a bit of luck from the draw, the maiden Hoofbeat should go very well," Parsons said. "He's a half-brother to O'Cartier."

O'Cartier won 16 races from the Parsons stable, including the Gr.3 Manawatu Challenge Stakes and the Gr.3 Stewards' Handicap. – NZ Racing Desk.
