The well-bred Rosso Corsa hasn't been an easy three-year-old to handle, but he showed any special treatment had been worthwhile with a first-up success over 1800 metres at Taupo on Friday.
"I'd like to thank the team at home who have done a fantastic job with this horse," trainer John Bell said.
"He's been one of the toughest horses to deal with and he'll learn a lot. He's an absolute out and out stayer."
Raced by Sir Peter Vela, the colt is a son of Darci Brahma and the stakes-winning Stravinsky mare Miss Scarlatti, who also finished runner-up in the Gr.1 VRC Oaks. Pencarrow Stud will offer a half-sister to Rosso Corsa by Reliable Man (Lot 291) during the Premier Sale at Karaka in 2017.
