Sensei will take on the older horses at Waikouaiti on New Year's Day ahead of an appearance at the Wellington Cup carnival.
"He only gets 54kg as a two-year-old," said Michael Pitman, who trains the colt with his son Matthew. "He'll then go to Wellington and we'll see what happens there before we decide if we go further north."
Sensei finished runner-up on debut and in one start since he ran third in the Listed Welcome Stakes at Riccarton.
