An aggressive ride from Opie Bosson brought out the best in the highly-regarded Mongolian Legend at Ellerslie on Thursday.
The top jockey headed straight to the front from a potentially tricky barrier and the heavily-backed Fastnet Rock colt was untroubled to win in his second race day appearance.
"We were confident, but the draw was a little bit awkward," said Andrew Forsman, who trains in partnership with Murray Baker. "He's got a lot of scope and he'll only get better with more racing."
A son of the Group Three-winning mare Purde, Mongolian Legend is raced by Mr Lang Lin of the Inner Mongolia Rider Horse Group and is currently rated a $26 chance in the Gr.1 Vodafone New Zealand Derby in March.
