New Plymouth trainer Allan Sharrock is confident that Icehouse will go close to winning on her home track on Saturday.
"She's a good mare and I think she'll be a big chance," he said.
The five-year-old daughter of Swiss Ace has been patiently handled by Sharrock and she will make just the sixth appearance of her career in the New Zealand Bloodstock Insurance Pearl Series Race.
A trial winner in the spring, Icehouse suffered from an interrupted passage when she finished a last-start sixth behind the highly-regarded Black Sav at Awapuni. She will be ridden by Johnathan Parkes, who was aboard in the mare's maiden success last year.
"She's drawn the outside, but with Johnathan on again I think they can overcome that," Sharrock said.
He has also accepted with the fresh runners Absolutely Me and Turncoat in the Landmark Homes 1200.
"Absolutely Me is a very good filly and I've just had to give her time while I think Turncoat is a smart horse as well," Sharrock said.
A daughter of O'Reilly, Absolutely Me is a half-sister to the multiple Group One winners Glamour Puss and Vision And Power.
She finished fifth on debut and was then put aside following her maiden victory at Hawera in the autumn while Turncoat was spelled after he opened his account on his home track in May.
"They'll be good chances and so will Jackson Road on the second day of the meeting," Sharrock said. – NZ Racing Desk.
