The James McDonald betting inquiry is close to resuming.
"We've completed our interviews and we have asked a couple of the participants for additional material," Racing NSW chief steward Marc Van Gestel said.
"We will have an opportunity to look at that material and I would say at some stage this week we will announce a date for the inquiry. That could be as early as late this week."
Stewards have charged McDonald with allegedly having an interest in a bet on Astern when he rode the colt to win at Randwick on December 5 last year.
The stewards' investigation is believed to have focused on a number of McDonald's subsequent rides and betting transactions on certain races.
