A lengthy period of frustration has ended for all concerned with the four-year-old Marky Mark.
He won for the first time since he claimed the Gr.1 Manawatu Sires' Produce Stakes 20 months ago when he took a Rating 85 scalp at Pukekohe Park on Wednesday.
"He's been saddled with big weights and he's only a little fellow and last time we dropped him back to 1200 metres which didn't work," said Moira Murdoch, who trains Marky Mark with her daughter Kieran.
The son of Makfi, who carried 60kg when beaten two runs back at Ellerslie, appreciated the return to 1400m at Pukekohe where he beat Packing Tycoon under 54.5kg.
