Future Windsor Park stallion Rageese is over the hoof issue that saw the horse scratched from the $1 million Railway Stakes on race morning and will line up in Saturday's Festival Stakes at Rosehill.

The son of Street Cry had been rated one of the leading contenders for the Railway following an impressive victory in the Group 3 Chatham Stakes at Flemington on Oaks Day.

Despite the setback in Perth, trainer Darren Weir said he was happy with Rageese but did say he expected the entire to improve at his following start in the Group 2 Villiers Stakes at Randwick.

"He seems to be good, he had a few easy days after he had that little foot issue but I'm really happy with him," Weir said.

"He is a big bull and having missed that run he might just need the run on Saturday but his main target is the Villiers and he should be right to go there."

Rageese had been rated the $5.50 equal-second favourite in the Festival with CrownBet on Wednesday, behind the Chris Waller trained last-start winner Religify at $2.20.

With Rageese to be partnered by jockey Dean Yendall from barrier 12 of 13, Weir said he wasn't sure it was an ideal draw despite the fact the horse appears to relish racing with clear galloping room.

"I rather draw inside with anything rather than out because I think it makes it easier," he said.

"Probably somewhere in the middle would have been good for this horse but you can't do anything about it and the horse is going well." -racing.com
