Michael Walker will bypass two midweek meetings to be at his best to partner Kawi in Saturday's $A1 million Gr.1 Kingston Town Classic at Ascot.
He was stood down from his rides at Moonee Valley on Saturday after injuring his hip in a barrier accident early in the day and he also missed Tuesday's meeting at Werribee. He won't be riding at Bendigo on Wednesday either.
The Allan Sharrock-trained Kawi was a last-start sixth in the Gr.1 Railway Stakes and he will appreciate the return to weight-for-age conditions on the weekend.
