There's been nothing quiet about the start Whispering has made to her career.

The Darci Brahma mare opened with three placings earlier this year before she was put aside and she has been in outstanding touch since returning for trainer Allan Sharrock.

She successfully resumed on her home track before a victory at Trentham and the completion of her winning hat-trick at Hawera last month.

Whispering will make her next appearance in her own grade before Sharrock gets serious about chasing black type for the grey five-year-old.

"She's got immense ability," he said. "She's done well and she'll probably run next at either Otaki or Wanganui.

"The Anniversary Handicap and the Wairarapa Breeders' Stakes could be longer-term races for her."

Whispering has yet to race beyond 1400 metres, but Sharrock is confident she make an impact over more ground.

"A mile won't stop her – her half-sister Megapins won a Wellington Cup," he said.

Sharrock is also close to finalising plans for the stable newcomer Catwomandu, who won an open 1000 metre trial at Waverley last month.

"She's going very, very well and she's a talented mare," he said. "She's another one who will go to Otaki or Wanganui."

Formerly trained by Trudy Keegan, the Tale Of The Cat seven-year-old has won four races up to 1400 metres and she has also placed a further 19 times.

Catwomandu hasn't raced since she ended her autumn campaign with a sixth placing at Trentham. – NZ Racing Desk.
