Awapuni trainer Mike Breslin is expecting Stephenstihls to make his mark in good company next year.
"He looks like he might get over 2000 metres against the three-year-olds in the autumn," he said.
Stephenstihls followed up his second placing behind Hall of Fame in the Listed Zacinto Stakes with a narrow maiden victory at Riccarton on Wednesday.
"He switched off when he got to the front – he's still learning his craft," Breslin said.
"He looks like he might get over 2000 metres against the three-year-olds in the autumn," he said.
