Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young broke new ground in their adopted home city in Melbourne on Thursday, getting their first city winner since moving to Australia on Oaks Day, no less, with Anaheim.

The NZB graduate missed a run in the AAMI Victoria Derby as second emergency, but picked up a handy consolation prize in the Listed TCL QUHD TV Stakes (1800m) for the Cranbourne training partnership.

"He won at Benalla, and only had $22,500 stake money, which usually gets in, but this year it didn't unfortunately. We were balloted two, and didn't get a run," co-trainer Young explained.

But now it is onto the next Derby targets, namely South Australian and Queensland next year.

"I think he's better on top of the ground, and quite often the last few years, Sydney is always quite wet," Young said.

"We're more thinking Adelaide Derby, and onto the Queensland Derby."

Young and Busuttin's barn has 35 in work as it stands, with room for another 10 more.

And their move from New Zealand to Australia has been a seamless process, Young said.

"We love it," she added.

"We've got a good bunch of staff, and very supportive owners from New Zealand.

"We are looking to fill the barn - we've got 35 in work at the moment.

"We're gradually getting there, and it's happening slowly, but it's great to get our first city winner on a day like today, on Oaks Day.

"It can't get any better than that."

Anaheim was purchased for $160,000 from the draft of Wellfield Lodge at the 2015 NZB Premier Sale.-racing.com
