Cambridge trainer Murray Baker believes Saturday's Gr.1 Darley Classic (1200m) might be too short for multiple Group One winner Turn Me Loose, but says the Iffraaj stallion deserves his chance.
A Group One winner of the Futurity Stakes at Caulfield over 1400m and the 2000 Guineas at Riccarton and the Emirates Stakes at Flemington, both over 1600m, Turn Me Loose was eighth resuming over 1100m in the Schillaci Stakes at Caulfield last month.
It was the first time he had contested a race at a distance shorter than 1400m since just his third start in August 2014.
"He's absolutely thriving, but the race is probably too short for him. We're giving him his chance and he is really going well," Baker said.
