In-form three-year-old Euphoria will make just one classic appearance at the New Zealand Cup carnival.
Trainer Rachael Frost had designs on both this Saturday's Gr.1 Sothys NZ 2000 Guineas and the Gr.1 gavelhouse.com NZ 1000 Guineas a week later with the filly, but a missed run at Wellington last month due to a heavy track changed those plans.
"I would have liked to have gone to Trentham because that would have left open the option of going to the 2000 Guineas, but she'll be saved for the 1000 Guineas only now," the Otaki horsewoman said.
Fourth on debut in the Listed O'Leary's Fillies' Classic, she was then a runaway maiden winner at Tauherenikau before the daughter of Rip Van Winkle headed Frost's four-strong team south.
The headstrong Euphoria duly completed a winning double at Motukarara on Sunday for Frost, who had earlier produced Redefine to make a winning debut.
"They all travelled down well, especially Euphoria, but she is pretty hard going," Frost said.
"In her track work there's no stopping her. Hopefully, with the benefit of this trip she might settle down.
"Her race day manners are a lot better though. She's quite an arrogant filly, but on Sunday she took a sit and didn't over race. I've got no doubt that she will run out a good 1600 metres."
Euphoria has been ridden in all three starts by Kelly McCulloch, who also guided Redefine to victory.
"I thought he might have needed the track to be a bit firmer, but he went really well," Frost said. "He'll probably run on the middle day at Riccarton in the three-year-old race over 1400 metres."
Last-start placegetters Free Rein and Travimyfriend complete the southern party.
"Free Rein will run on Saturday and back up over 2000 metres on the last day and Travimyfriend will be in the maiden 1200 on the middle day," Frist said. – NZ Racing Desk.
