Humidor heading home

Humidor - Trish Dunell
Humidor

Humidor is heading home to the spelling paddock after receiving a pass mark from his trainers after Saturday's Gr.1 Cantala Stakes at Flemington.

Johno Benner, who trains the four-year-old in partnership with Hollie Wynyard, said that while the son of Teofilo had no luck in the running he was happy enough with the outcome.

Allowed to find his feet early, when Humidor went to improve along the rail he was faced with a wall of horses and never saw daylight, finishing under a hold just over four lengths from the winner Le Romain.

"He is a big raw type and the trip over there will make him," Benner said. "He had nowhere to go and still hit the line well so we know he will measure up over there.

"He will have two or three weeks in the paddock and then will come back for the Herbie Dyke at Te Rapa in February."

Provided all goes well upon his return, Humidor could be back at Flemington for the Gr.1 Australian Cup next March. - NZ Racing Desk
