A disrupted preparation hasn't dimmed Tommy Beckett's confidence in his Riccarton contender Miss Three Stars.
The Ascot Park trainer will use Plan C at Wingatui on Tuesday to give the seven-year-old her final start before the Gr.3 Christchurch Casino New Zealand Cup on Saturday week.
"I was going to run her in a Listed race at Riccarton (the Spring Classic), but she banged her head and then we were going to go to Gore," Beckett said.
"She got 62.5 kilos in the 2000 metre race, but they called the races off.
"You have to go with the flow so she'll run over 1400 metres now. It's going to be a wet track and she'll keep whacking away."
Miss Three Stars will step out in the KB Contractors Handicap, in which she will be ridden by Samantha Wynne, but the unconventional lead-up to a two mile race hasn't fazed Beckett.
"She'll have another gallop at home on Saturday and we'll go to Christchurch on Sunday," he said.
"She'll have a gallop there on Wednesday and then we'll get the cup. I'm still very confident."
Beckett has gone close to winning the New Zealand Cup on two previous occasions with relatives of Miss Three Stars.
