The calibre of horses sold at New Zealand Bloodstock's Ready to Run sale, which swings into action for 2016 onNovember 16 and 17, was again showcased over the weekend with graduate winners Gaultier (NZ) (Rios) and Happy Agility (NZ) (Postponed) striking at Sha Tin.
Gr.1 Levin Classic winner Gaultier, now named Simply Invincible, added another win to his resume on Sunday night, taking out the HK$1,235,000 HKJC Carl F Bucherer Excellent Handicap over 1600m by two and a half lengths under the guidance of Zac Purton. Simply Invincible has now won over HK$1.69 million in prize money. He was a $17,500 purchase at the 2013 Ready to Run Sale.
Not to be outdone, fellow alumni Happy Agility scored a spectacular win in the HK$840,000 HKJC Zenith Excellent Handicap over 1200m for trainer Ricky Yiu. The win was his third from 16 starts and boosted his stakes earnings to HK$1.85 million for owners the Rotary Club of Sha Tin Syndicate.
Happy Agility was bred by Westbury Stud owner Gerry Harvey. Westbury Stud offered him at the 2013 Festival Sale, where he sold to John White Bloodstock for $45,000. The colt returned later that year for the Ready to Run Sale as part of the Diamond Lodge draft, and Ricky Yiu bought him for $220,000.
The result was part of a highly successful weekend for Ready to Run Sale graduates, with Hall Of Fame (NZ) (Savabeel) scoring a Listed win at Riccarton on Saturday. - NZB
