Stephen Autridge and Jamie Richards dominated the two-year-old event at Ruakaka on Wednesday with Melody Belle beating her stablemate Summer Monsoon.
"She's a nice filly and she's a chance to get through to some of those better races later on," Richards said.
Rider Cameron Lammas made use of Melody Belle's inside gate to lead and they comfortably held out Summer Monsoon in the run home.
"He's just a little bit green and has a lot to learn, but he finished it off well," Richards said. "He'll improve a lot for the experience."
