Prince Of Penzance is recovering from leg surgery, but he is unlikely to race again.
The New Zealand-bred Gr.1 Melbourne Cup winner had screws inserted in his off fore leg at the Ballarat Equine Clinic on Monday after suffering the injury when fourth in the Gr.2 Herbert Power Stakes.
"He's done his job so the main thing is that he has a long and happy life," said Sandy McGregor, who is part of the ownership group in the son of Pentire.
