Windsor Park Stud stallion Rip Van Winkle (Galileo) sired his 11th stakes winner when Almorox put in an impressive late run to land the Listed Gran Premio De La Hispanidad (1600m) at Madrid on Sunday.
The four-year-old, who was last seen finishing seventh in a Listed race at San Sebastian, beat long-time leader Noozhoh Canarias (Caradak) who finished second with Aguero (Way West) in third.
Rip Van Winkle, whose stakes winners are headed by his Group One-winning son Dick Whittington, is based at Windsor Park Stud in New Zealand where his fee this season is NZ$12,500 (plus GST).
