Sam Collett - Trish Dunell

Sam Collett will head south to the Phar Lap Raceway for a good book of rides on Friday and to also monitor their progress for future engagements.

The 26-year-old has recently formed an association with prominent breeder and owner Kevin Hickman and she will wear his familiar gold jacket and blue cap aboard Rosaeflora (Port FM Maiden) and Tania (The Sail & Anchor Bar & Café 1200).

"I'll be looking to go Ashburton on Saturday week as well to get a feel of Kevin's runners going into the cup week at Riccarton," Collett said.

"The whole point of it is to get a consistent opinion as to where things are at with the horses so I'm pretty lucky."

The Zacinto filly Rosaeflora will be on debut for trainers Shane Kennedy and Anna Furlong and Tania will also be making her first appearance for them after transferring south from Graeme and Debbie Rogerson's yard.

"Obviously, I don't know a lot about Rosaeflora, but Shane and Anna do a great job and Tania can improve with that last run up north," Collett said.

Among her other rides for Kennedy and Furlong is the genuine Barclay Creek (Tas Answering Services Maiden Mile).

"She's probably one of my best rides - I rode her when she was a good fifth on an off track at Ashburton and then she was a solid fourth at Christchurch," she said. – NZ Racing Desk.
