A lengthy run of outs between jockey Sam Collett and trainers Kenny and Lisa Rae might come to an overdue end on Saturday when they combine with Kaharau in the Listed Team Wealleans Matamata Cup.
"It's become a standing joke that I haven't ridden a winner for Kenny or Lisa so it would be nice if the first one was in a stakes race," Collett said.
They have unsuccessfully teamed up 45 previous times, but there is confidence in Kaharau's ability to break their duck.
"I rode him in a trial and first-up at Ruakaka and then he went a super race at Ellerslie," Collett said.
Kaharau was ridden by three kilo claiming apprentice Emily Farr when he finished fourth behind Cheeky Bot last time out under 58.5kg.
