Rachel Frost's southern plans will become clearer on Thursday.
The Otaki trainer could have up to three runners heading to next month's carnival at Riccarton if they perform up to expectations at the Tauherenikau meeting.
Frost has Gr.1 gavelhouse.com New Zealand 1000 Guineas aspirations for Euphoria while two-year-olds Fedora and War Hero are possible contenders for the Listed Barneswood Farm Agistment Welcome Stakes.
Rip Van Winkle filly Euphoria justified Frost's faith in her when she finished a strong fourth on debut under rider Kelly McCulloch in the Listed O'Leary's Fillies' Classic at Wanganui last month.
"She did everything completely wrong and I should have drilled into Kelly that she wouldn't want to be in behind them," she said.
"The filly's got quite an arrogant attitude and we should have let her lead – when she gets to the front she drops the bit and doesn't pull.
"She pulled up with a minor muscle issue in behind. It wasn't serious, but we want to see how she is after Tauherenikau and if she can win and pulls up well then she'll go to Christchurch.
"I'd quite like to get her down there early and she could have another run at either Ashburton or Riccarton."
Euphoria's Guineas hopes will be decided by her performance in Thursday's NZB Insurance Pearl Series Race.
"It's all up in the air at the moment though, if things don't work out at Tauherenikau we'll pull the pin and put her out and get her back for the Levin Classic. She's a good filly," Frost said.
Fedora, a daughter of former crack juvenile Helmet, and War Hero, who is from the first crop of the international Group One winner Reliable Man, will make their first appearances in the NZB Insurance Pearl Series Race for the youngsters.
"Fedora is tiny, but she has trialled well and the Reliable Man is coming along well," Frost said. "One of them, or both, could go down for the Welcome Stakes." – NZ Racing Desk.
