The Soultaker's brief New Zealand career is over with confirmation of the smart three-year-old's sale to overseas interests.
His connections had been approached by a buyer prior to his last-start victory in the Gr.3 Bonecrusher Stakes and the grey is now bound for Hong Kong.
"We agreed a price before the race – win, lose or draw," said George Simon, who bred the son of Iffraaj with his wife Maryanne and they remained in the ownership syndicate.
Trained at Ruakaka by Donna Logan and Chris Gibbs, The Soultaker finished runner-up on debut last season and beat Manolo Blahniq in the Listed Murdoch Newell Stakes at Avondale at his next appearance.
He then finished second behind the subsequent Group One winner Sacred Elixir before unplaced runs in the Karaka Million and the Gr.1 Diamond Stakes.
The Soultaker was a close second when resuming this season in the Listed Northland Breeders' Stakes before he overcame a heavy track to win the Bonecrusher Stakes.
He is out of the Reset mare Miranda Miss, who is leased from Pencarrow Stud principal Sir Peter Vela.
"We've got a two-year-old sister to The Soultaker in work with Shelley Hale and we're going to race her with friends who we raced Ted'll Do and Midnitemagicman with," Simon said.
"We were going to send the mare back to Pencarrow, but my wife Maryanne decided we'd go again and she sent Miranda Miss to Tavistock - that yearling colt will be in the Premier Sale draft of Cambridge Stud.
"She's due to foal again to Tavistock and will go back to him. None of this would have been possible without Sir Peter Vela."
The other mare they leased from Pencarrow is Indomitable, the dam of the multiple Group One winner Turn Me Loose.
"We sold a Cape Cross filly out of the mare at the weanling sale for $150,000," Simon said. "Indomitable had her seventh foal last week and it was a sister to Turn Me Loose, he's the only colt she's had." – NZ Racing Desk.
