Donna Logan and Chris Gibbs have Gr.1 New Zealand Derby hopes for Mongolian Sky, the first Australasian winner for the Cambridge Stud stallion Cape Blanco.
"He's only going to get better as he continues to strengthen up," Logan said.
"He's an out-and-out stayer. He's going the right way and he's in the ownership of a team that knows what it takes to win a Derby."
Mongolian Sky, who opened his account at Ruakaka last week, is owned by the Inner Mongolia Rider Horse Industry, who raced the New Zealand and Australian Derby winner Mongolian Khan.
