Amateur jockey Bailey Rogerson is recovering in hospital following a nasty fall earlier this week at Te Rapa.
"It was on that inside track and the horse skidded over and landed on top of her," her grandfather and leading trainer Graeme Rogerson said.
"She had bleeding on the brain, but it could have been a lot worse. Hopefully she will be out of hospital soon."
The 15-year-old has had nine race day mounts and memorably rode against her mother Michelle Northcott, a long-time employee of the Rogerson operation, in an amateur event at Wingatui last season.
