Xtravagant will return home from Melbourne following another below-par performance.
The dual Group One-winning son of Pentire finished last in the Gr.2 Bobbie Lewis Quality at Flemington and at Caulfield on Saturday he beat only one runner home in the Gr.1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes.
"He gave a little kick at the top of the straight, but his effort was short-lived," rider Damien Oliver said. "He's obviously not racing up to his best."
Co-trainer Stephen Autridge said they couldn't find anything amiss with Xtravagant and they will make a decision on his immediate future once he arrived home.
