Nigel Tiley is still feeling his way with the promising stayer Megablast, who will make his second appearance for the stable at Ellerslie on Saturday.

The Pukekohe trainer produced the five-year-old to win in Rating 75 company on the course earlier this month for the gelding to earn his open class debut in the Ray White NZ Mitchelson Cup.

"His form shows he handles cut in the ground and obviously I've only given him the one run so we'll have to see about the better tracks," Tiley said.

"He's got it all ahead of him and we're not going to overtax him. He'll run on Saturday and then we'll decide what path we take from there."

A son of Shinko King, Megablast won four of his first 11 starts for Wanganui trainer Kevin Myers before he transferred north.

Tiley will also be represented in the feature sprint, the Ray White City Realty 1200, by the Group performer Spoke To Carlo.

"He's an older horse now so it's a race at a time, but he's ready to go and the track should suit him," he said.

Spoke To Carlo's three New Zealand wins have been on heavy going, as was his Group Three placing in the Merial Mile.

Meanwhile, the promising Bao Shan Magic will also resume after a break in the Ventell Limited Handicap.

"I couldn't find a really suitable race for him and the 1200 metres will probably be too short, but I expect him to be hitting the line strongly," Tiley said. "He's a quality horse."

Track conditions will determine whether Brighton takes his place in the Frucor 1600.

"I had to scratch him from Pukekohe last Sunday because of the heavy track so I'll wait and see what it's going to be like," Tiley said. – NZ Racing Desk.
