Promising mare Preetha Varma hasn't missed a beat since her solid second behind Sweet Leader when she recently resumed at Te Rapa.
"The track was perfect for her there, but unfortunately she ran into a very good horse," trainer Mark Forbes said.
Preetha Varma, who may return to the Hamilton course for her next appearance, performed well in strong three-year-old company last season.
One of her best efforts came in the Gr.2 Eight Carat Classic, in which she ran fifth after being badly galloped on in the incident that saw Sofia Rosa clip heels and fall.
