New Zealand trained gelding Sacred Elixir, winner of the Gr.1 J. J. Atkins Stakes in Queensland last season, is now second favourite for the Gr.1 Caulfield Guineas at $6.50 following the withdrawal of ruling favourite Astern.
The Tony Pike-trained three-year-old will step out for the first time this season when he tackles Saturday's Gr.3 Caulfield Guineas Prelude with Damian Lane in the saddle.
Sacred Elixir has drawn well in barrier 6, while fellow Kiwi raider Saracino has also drawn favourably in three.
