Honey Rider's first-up success at Hastings has elevated her to equal second favourite for the Gr.1 gavelhouse.com NZ 1000 Guineas.
The Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman-trained filly was an impressive winner of the Gr.3 Gold Trail Stakes and she now shares an $8 quote for the classic with the southern hope La Diosa. Bella Gioia is the $7 favourite.
"We were pretty confident on Saturday, she has always shown above average ability," Forman said. "She's really improved a lot in the last couple of weeks and even though there were a few unlucky runners behind her, I thought she was as strong on the line as anything.
"She'll probably have just one more run before Riccarton. I think she needs a good track which is obviously something we'll keep in mind."
