A preference to space Tavago's races has resulted in Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young settling on this Saturday's Gr. 1 Underwood Stakes at Caulfield as the four-year-old's next start.
"We'll drop him out the back and have him hitting the line and that'll top him off nicely for the Caulfield Cup," Busuttin said.
Unplaced when resuming in the Gr.2 Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes, Tavago was scratched from Saturday's Gr.2 Hill Stakes at Randwick.
"I probably jumped to a harsh reaction with his first-up run," Busuttin said. "While the distance suited, the 20-hour-round float trip to Sydney and back seemed just a bit too much at this stage of the preparation."
