Prominent South Island breeder, owner and racing administrator Dr. Thomas Sidey passed away at his home in Arrowtown last Friday.
Sidey and his wife Diana bred and raced many well-performed horses, including the Gr.3 Canterbury Gold Cup and Listed Timaru Cup winner Burton while Bloodstone won the Riverton and Ashburton Cups before embarking on a successful jumping career.
Sidey was also a life member and past president of the Otago Racing Club, past chairman of the Otago District Committee and a member of the NZ Racing Conference. He represented the Otago District.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday at St Pauls Anglican Church in Arrowtown at 2pm.
