Xravagant has booked his place in Saturday's Gr.1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday.
The two-time Group One winner was unplaced in a barrier trial at Cranbourne on Monday, but he wasn't put under undue pressure by rider Damien Oliver because of the heavy nature of the track.
Xtravagant took the lead turning for home in his 1190m heat and he was kept under a good hold in the closing stages.
