A proven New Zealand partnership will continue their association in Australia.

Jockey Jonathan Riddell has been confirmed as the rider of Manhattan Street when the Awapuni colt makes his first appearance in the Gr.2 Stutt Stakes at Moonee Valley on Friday week.

"The horse will be flown over this Wednesday and Jonathan will be going over to ride him at the night meeting," trainer Lisa Latta said.

"We'll get through that race and then see if we go to the Caulfield Guineas or to the Caulfield Classic a week later."

Manhattan Street has won three of his four starts and with Riddell in the saddle they claimed the Listed Ryder Stakes by six and a-half lengths. Last time out they finished runners-up in the Wanganui Guineas.

"He's done really well since then and his work on Saturday morning was great," Latta said.

The longer-term target in Melbourne is the Gr.1 VRC Derby, a race which could see a rematch with Highlad, who took the honours in the Wanganui feature earlier this month.

Meanwhile, Manhattan Street's stablemate Authentic Paddy has come through his run for seventh in the Gr.1 Windsor Park Plate without incident and he remains on target for the Gr.1 Livamol Classic.

"He's just really thrived and he had a good blow after Saturday," Latta said.

Authentic Paddy had finished fifth in his previous appearance three weeks earlier in the Gr.1 Makfi Challenge Stakes.

"He takes a lot of work and the two week gap to the Livamol will suit him better," Latta said. – NZ Racing Desk.
