The progeny of Berkley Stud's freshman sire Highly Recommended have hit the ground running with his first trial runner a winner.
The unnamed two-year-old colt out of Princess Halo won his 650m heat at Rangiora on Tuesday for Michael Daly. He is the first foal for multiple winning My Halo mare Princess Halo, who hails from the family of Gr.3 winners Nouvain and Zatella.
A son of Fastnet Rock, Highly Recommended was a precocious juvenile who won on debut at Flemington as a two-year-old, and then went on to be competitive in the spring three-year-old races starting almost exclusively in stakes races.
Highly Recommended's biggest win was the Gr.2 Alister Clark Stakes for Peter Moody and he is a half-brother to Gr.1 winner Sky Cuddle and Gr.3 winner Sky Love.
Well supported in his first three seasons serving over 300 mares, Christchurch based Highly Recommended is standing for $4000 +GST in 2016. For more information contact Edwina Morris on 0274387574 or berkleystud@xtra.co.nz
