Hall Of Fame's path to his Group One target will become clearer after Friday's Taupo meeting.

The Sothys NZ 2000 Guineas contender will step out in the www.bloodstockauction.com 1300 and his connections will then confirm his route to Christchurch.

"He's going to Taupo because we were a little bit worried that it might get a bit wet at Ellerslie on Saturday week for the Bonecrusher," said Jamie Richards, who prepares the Savabeel three-year-old with Stephen Autridge.

"He's a very good horse - he's not that big, but he is strong and he needs good tracks. We'll get this race out of the way and then make a plan, he's one who could go to the South Island a bit earlier."

Hall Of Fame was runner-up to the unbeaten Mihaul on debut last season and then won at Pukekohe before a break. He resumed with a second placing behind the rising star Ugo Foscolo at Hastings.

"Some say if you reversed the draws then the result would have been different, but I don't think so," Richards said.

"The other horse is very, very good and he only did what he had to – to get as close as we did to Ugo Foscolo was a good effort."

The stable will also have Group One three-year-old hopefuls at both venues on Saturday with Sassy 'N' Smart in the Gr.3 Hawke's Bay Breeders' Gold Trail Stakes at Hastings and O'Naturelle and Play For Time in the Listed NZB Canterbury Belle Stakes at Riccarton.

"We know what Sassy 'N' Smart can do when she puts it all together," Richards said. "She can let herself down a bit, but we're confident she's on track.

"Play For Time has been down south for a little while and she's doing well while O'Naturelle looks a pretty exciting type of filly." – NZ Racing Desk.
