Punters would be well-advised to be taking notes on Roger James' runners at Te Rapa on Wednesday.
The Cambridge trainer will run a handful of promising prospects led by the resuming Von Tunzelman in The Riv Bar & Bistro 1400.
"His trial was only average, but it was in an open trial and he's only a one win horse," James said.
"His work between times has been very good and I've chosen to claim three kilos."
Zy Nor Azman will partner Von Tunzelman, who was a debut winner at Te Aroha in the autumn and was put aside after finishing runner-up at Te Rapa at his next appearance.
"Whatever he does he will improve, but he is good enough to feature," James said.
He also has future staying prospects Howland and Cool Tart to kick off new campaigns in the same event.
O'Reilly four-year-old Killarney, a brother to his multiple winning stablemate Gracehill, will debut in the Te Kauwhata Tavern Bay & Restaurant 1200.
He has won his only trial and will be ridden by Vinnie Colgan while Sam Spratt is on Doubtless Bay in the Distinction Hamilton $5KPunters Challenge 5 Nov @ Te Rapa 1200.
James has high future hopes for Amazing Lady, who will make her four-year-old debut in The Yardhouse Bar 1400.
"She needs further, she's very much a staying mare," he said. "I wouldn't be expecting huge things of her at 1400 metres – she could be a cups mare in the future."
Amazing Lady placed in the Gr.3 Lowland Stakes last season and finished in behind the placegetters in the Gr.1 New Zealand Oaks.
"I thought her run in the Oaks from an awkward position on the turn was very good – she still got to the line resolutely," James said.
She will be ridden at Te Rapa by stable apprentice Gee Saejorhor - "he's had a lot of trial rides and he's very light and balanced," James said. – NZ Racing Desk.
