Te Akau Racing is heading back to the drawing board after the talented Shillelagh was denied her first Australian start when Wednesday's Sandown meeting was abandoned through concerns with the track.
A winner of four of her six starts, the Christopher and Susanna Grace-bred and raced mare was slated for her Australian debut at Sandown, but will now be set an alternative first-up assignment.
"It was a shame because we were looking forward to seeing her race. With the meeting off, we'll just have to go back through the programmes and pick out another race for her," said Jamie Richards, who trains in partnership with Stephen Autridge.
