Talented mare Rasa Lila is being primed for a first-up crack at another Group One honour.

The Steven Ramsay and Julia Ritchie-trained six-year-old is unbeaten in two trial appearances this preparation, ample proof she is on target for a bold re-appearance in the Windsor Park Plate at Hastings on September 17.

"She performs superbly fresh-up and while she came up well last season, she seems to be going a lot better now," said Garry Cossey, racing manager to co-breeder and owner Sir Peter Vela.

"She's stronger and she's has really matured into a grouse mare."

Rasa Lila won four races last season, including the Gr.2 Travis Stakes and the Gr.3 Cuddle Stakes, and she was Group One placed when third in the Easter Stakes.

Off the back of a four month break, the daughter of Darci Brahma won consecutive trials at Te Teko last month.

"In the first one she was just there for a run and we didn't really expect her to be that forward," Cossey said.

"Her last trial gave us even more confidence and Leith (Innes) hopped off her and was full of praise."

Rasa Lila will head to the second day of the Hawke's Bay meeting with her stakes winning stablemate Silver Eclipse.

"She'll run in the open 1200 and she had a good hit-out at Taupo where she was in need of the trial," Cossey said.

"She's another one who operates very well fresh and if she gets a good track at Hastings we would expect her to be very competitive." – NZ Racing Desk.
