Highview Stud-based stallion Bullbars was represented by his first Australian winner at Pakenham on Thursday when El Sicario won for Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young.
El Sicario, who is nominated for the Gr.1 Caulfield Guineas and the Cox Plate, finished second to Luna Rossa in the Gr.1 Manawatu Sires Produce Stakes last season. He initially crossed the Tasman for the Gr.1 Champagne Stakes in Sydney but disappointed on that occasion.
Returning from a spell on Thursday El Sicario was a short priced favourite and he delivered, winning the 1200 metre maiden by three lengths.
Bullbars, a Group Three winning half-brother to Helmet stands at Highview Stud for a fee of $6,000.
